TIPS TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEAVY BAG

Take care of Heavy Bag

With the new year just starting it’s the right time to remember to take care of yourself and your boxing equipment, of course. The first thing that comes to mind is your gloves, I’m mean, they are your main tool for boxing; but all your other equipment also has a very important task in your training, so their maintenance is essential, in this case your sparring partner: the heavy bag. These are some tips so take care of your heavy bag:

  1. Keeping it clean: This is a no brainer. If you regularly clean your heavy bag you’ll prolong its life, be sure to clean it with the appropriate substances for the materials and after every use.
  2. Clean it weekly: Even if you don’t use it that much, cleaning your equipment every week helps to conserve their lifetime, especially if they are made of leather or other sensible material.
  3. Keep them where they belong: Not every bag is made for exteriors and some of them may suffer from be exposed to the sun, wind and rain. Check if your bag is made for exteriors or for GYM use only.
  4. Inspect them for any irregularities: Heavy bags are heavy, that goes without saying, so any faulty stich could result in an expensive bag falling to the floor, maybe damaging other equipment or yourself. Check the straps, the stitching, the chains, the swivels; anything that may seem out of place.
